ABOUT THE ARTISTS

We are blessed to have so many incredible artists in our lives, look at this range of talent!
Each of these people are dear to us, please read more about them and their work below.

Sarah Meineke

Recognize this piece? Sara is the gal who helped us with our invitations! Sara is an incredible artist based in Brooklyn, NY whom Marc and Alex both worked alongside with at 72andSunny for several years. Saras work is playful and unfiltered and colorful (which is why we both love her work so much, as it speaks to our spirits).

Merv Corning

Merv was a wonderful human being that was the inspiration for this poster booth. Merv did the Santa Barbara Greek Festival posters for almost 30 years, each one a special contribution to the Greek community. Special to our family, as we ran that poster booth for all those years too. Merv was a master watercolorist from the Santa Ynez Valley whose beautiful creations are in museums and books across the nation. His watercolors are meticulous and awe inspiring as they are both real and dreamlike at the same time, alway capturing the spirit of the subject.

As Alex’s mother, Mary, ran that poster booth all those years- Alex had the pleasure of visiting Merv in his Los Olivos home once a year to see the newest painting for the festival. Alex remembers his home fondly as full of metal wind up toys, airplanes, motorcycles, gum-ball machines, paint tubes, and Welsh terriers. This particular one is Alex’s all time favorite works, the yia yia.

Mervs work can be found at Young’s Gallery in Los Olivos, CA

Matt Murphy

We know Matt from our years at 72andSunny- of which Alex had the privilege of working for him for many years. Murph was one of the great believers in Alex’s ability to throw a rad event, and gave her free rein to think up some of the craziest one night showdowns she’s ever thrown. A partner and Chief Creative Officer at 72andSunny, we all knew he was a creative guy. It wasn’t until he started sharing his personal work on his instagram a few years that we got to see how crazy this guys mind really is. Murphy’s work is liminal, and limitless as he somehow insanely captures a gradient without any visible breaks in the color. We are so excited to have one of his pieces to share. See more of his work on his website.

Caro Clarke

Caro Clarke and Alex go way way back, high school days. Caro has been doodling and painting on random walls, chairs, clothes, and objects to make esoteric and colorful creations since Alex can remember. Alex has always known that her art would bring her fame and fortune and is thrilled to be able to share her work today. Isn’t it rad!? Caro’s work is full of divine feminine energy and a cartoon verision of Dali-esque surrealism. She is most famous for her creation of her own beautiful version of the Ryder Waite Tarot deck.

Check out her work and her tarot cards on her website.

Christopher Pratt

No, not that Chris Pratt. THIS Chris Pratt is an inspired artist hailing from Marc’s hometown of St. John’s Newfoundland, Canada. Marc’s grandfather, Bruce Pardy is known for his great civic works in St. Johns, much of it working alongside famed architect, Philip Pratt- Chris Pratt’s brother. These two family’s have much to do with the shape of St. John’s today- and the work of Chris Pratt can be found hanging in multitudes in Marc’s families homes. His art is art seems to speak volumes on the simplest subjects, and staring at one too long can make you lose track of time. We are luck to be able to share this with one with you all today. Chris’ work can be found in many different galleries, and no one place in particular. To get a wide breadth of his work in one place, give him a google.
